Recognizing the many hurdles that individuals with felonies face, especially when reentering the workforce, Phoenix Home Services has chosen to award a $1,000 scholarship to one individual seeking education, training, or certification in a home-related trade, such as carpentry, masonry, or HVAC. Applicants will be asked to share their story in no more than 2,500 words.

“It’s human nature to make mistakes and more often than not, it’s also human nature to feel remorse for those mistakes. Everyone deserves a second chance and we are proud to be able to help at least one person get that chance by joining the high-demand, skilled-labor workforce,” says Clint Asmar, Owner & Lead Designer of Phoenix Home Services.

Applications will be accepted through Going Merry, where individuals will also be able to make donations towards the fund, dispersed, up to $500 per person, to additional winners.

The application process will begin on August 1, 2018 and end November 4, 2018 at 11:59pm. Winners will be selected within two to four weeks.

Visit the Phoenix Home Services Felon Reform Scholarship on Going Merry to apply and please be sure to share this opportunity with anyone you know who may be pursuing that second chance.

More About the Scholarship

Phoenix Home Services recognizes the difficulty for individuals with prior convictions, especially felonies, to reenter the workforce. While many felons desire to clean up their act, this hurdle can become extremely demotivating and crippling to their personal reform efforts. With this scholarship, we are hoping to ease that strain for at least one individual.

Because the demand for skilled trade labor in the USA is currently far outnumbering the supply and this directly affects our business of home remodeling, we are going to award this scholarship only to felons seeking education, training, or certification in a home-related trade, including but not limited to:

  • Carpentry
  • Masonry
  • HVAC
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Painting
  • Flooring

This year, Phoenix Home Services will contribute $1,000 towards this scholarship fund for one winner selected by our team. Donations will also be accepted to be dispersed, up to $500 per person, to additional winners.

All applicant responses will remain private unless explicitly agreed upon by the applicant.

Winners are subject to eligibility verification by representatives of Phoenix Home Services. This may include background checks and/or a personal interview. If, for any reason, a winner’s application is deemed invalid, Phoenix Home Services will award the scholarship to another individual.

Award disbursement will be arranged between Phoenix Home Services and any winners, but Phoenix Home Services reserves the right to disburse funds in a manner that ensures proper use.

The deadline for applications is November 4, 2018 at 11:59pm and winners will be selected within two to four weeks.
